Baltimore, MD - May 6, 2021 -Through pain and suffering klal yisroel has a way of shining glimmers of hope and warmth in response to tragedy. One such event occurred last evening in Baltimore. At the local Dougies party room, Mendel & Chana Bisk, chosson and kallah by just a few days, were celebrating their Sheva Brachos.

Most of the guests who had planned to partake in this simcha had escorted the cousin, H’yd, of the kallah, who had been fatally shot while walking into his family's home, back to his final resting place in Eretz Yisrael. The Baltimore community then offered support with a text blasted to groups such as Shomrim, Chaveirim, and multiple other local Baltimore chats, "to make it a little Leibadig" and being misameach chosson v'kallah.

In response to the text, almost immediately, dozens of men, women, and children from all different backgrounds, dropped everything for this young couple. Giving solace and simcha, there were beautiful speeches, warm words of Torah and love radiating the simcha hall.

Groups from the chassidishe kollel, and litvish community, to the Bais Lubavich Kollel and Chaverim & Shomrim. Not a segment of the Jewish community of Baltimore was missing at this joyous yet somber simcha.

Only three words can describe the warmth and closeness of this sheva brachos:

Mi Ki'amcha Yisrael.

A cousin, Sara, was so touched by the community unity and shared these words of thanks and appreciation: "Dear Community, You really warmed our hearts last night. The Rav said it wasn't necessary, but you said it was. It was necessary that we know that you stand with us. And we felt it. The effort that went in was clearly seen. To each and every person that was involved and participated, thank you. Thank you for bringing us joy at a time of sorrow. For giving the Chosson and Kallah moments of happiness. You showed the power of unity."
