Health Ministry recommends that Israelis refrain from travelling abroad unless absolutely necessary

Israel reported on Monday two cases of the Brazilian coronavirus variant, in fully vaccinated parent and child returning from abroad, while a fully vaccinated Israeli returning from South America was the country's first confirmed case of the Chilean variant.

About 60 cases of the Indian strain have been recorded in Israel as of Sunday evening, mostly among foreign laborers from the Indian subcontinent.

Israel has lifted the vast majority of the restrictions imposed to stop the spread of the pandemic, after fully vaccinated more than half of its 9.3 million population in a record-setting rollout.

To date, no information has been released regarding the resistance of the South American variants to the Pfizer vaccine, which has been administered to Israelis. Read more at i24
