Cargo ship operating as mobile surveillance and command center said hit off Eritrean shore

An Iranian cargo ship came under attack in the Red Sea off the Eritrean shores, Saudi-owned al-Hadath reported on Tuesday.

The report came amid a spat of unconfirmed reports on social media, including from a maritime intelligence company Dryad Global.

Al-Hadath cited sources as confirming that an Iranian-flagged cargo ship had taken fire, resulting in significant damage. 

While the report did not name the vessel, it said it was affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). Read more at i24
