Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law authorizing the creation of the special license plates last Friday on the eve of the Jewish new year, Rosh Hashana.

The Israeli-American Council (IAC) hailed the move as a "heartwarming expression of solidarity," stressing that it "affirms the strong bond between the citizens of the state of Florida and Israel."

"This gesture celebrates a long and close relationship. Florida and Israel share many ties, including bilateral trade, common values and leadership in cutting-edge fields that have a quality of life impact for all citizens," IAC Board Member and IAC for Action Board Chairman Shawn Evenhaim said in a statement.
