Group said to have used the seized cargo to make bombs and missile warheads

Lebanon's Hezbollah terrorist group had been tapping into the trove of ammonium nitrate stored in the Beirut port to make explosives, al-Arabiya reported Wednesday.

The news portal cited a security source as saying that the explosive substance, which had been stored in the port since 2014, was being siphoned off by a "third party" with military use in mind.

The source asserted that this was the reason why the ammonium nitrate has not been properly disposed of for years after its seizure.

Another source, described by the outlet as a being close to Hezbollah leadership, explained that the group used the substance to make bombs and warheads for missiles delivered from Iran and assembled locally. Read more at i24
