Lightning that struck during Thursday's storms hurt at least one person and caused major damage to a home.

A 30-year-old man is recovering after being struck by indirect lightning around 2 p.m. at Patapsco State Park at the Howard and Baltimore County line.

Baltimore County Fire Lt. Travis Francis says he was going for a hike and called 911 himself.

"When they received the 911 call, he was unsure of where he was at or what trail he was on," Francis said. "It seemed like he was not directly struck by lightning but an indirect hit. The electrical hit from that caused him to be thrown down the hill."

Francis says the man has serious injuries and was taken to shock trauma.

Investigators say lightning sparked a fire at a duplex around 3 p.m. along the 3400 block of Flannery Lane close to Power Mill Park in Baltimore County. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

The severe weather may not be over. WBAL-TV 11 Meteorologist Ava Marie says you can expect scattered thunderstorms throughout Friday.
