There has been a slight uptick in the number of cars stolen in Maryland in the past two years. That according to the Maryland Vehicle Theft Prevention Council.

July is National Vehicle Theft Prevention month across the country and law enforcement officers are sharing ways to keep your car from being stolen as well as some numbers and locations of where cars are stolen the most in Maryland.

Christopher McDonold, Executive Director of the Maryland Vehicle Theft Prevention Council tells WBAL News Radio 1090 that the more than half of all vehicles stolen have the keys easily accessible to the thieves.
