Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proudly hailed the first-ever appointment of a female to serve as a squadron commander in his country’s air force.

“Not only will I not condemn the chief of staff, I praise him and the commander of the air force,” Netanyahu said. “I expect to see more appointments like this.”

While Netanyahu was pro the new development, a number of prominent Rabbis criticized IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot over the appointment.

“The army has adopted a crazy feminist agenda,” Chief Rabbi of Safed Shmuel Eliyahu exclaimed in a radio interview.

HaBayit HaYehudi MK Bezalel Smotrich — one of the most socially conservative legislators in Israel’s governing coalition — asserted, “There are professions and roles for men and there are professions and roles for women. That’s the way the Holy One, Blessed be He, made the world, and that’s good. Woe to us if women become men.”
