Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev contacts NBA Commissioner Adam Silver over site reference to "Palestine-occupied territory," argues that "Palestine" is an "imaginary state" • Regev praises Silver's integrity for his rapid response.

Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev says she has had the words "Palestine-occupied territory" removed from an NBA website.

Regev, in her letter to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, called Palestine "an imaginary 'state.'"

She said the listing was not in line with U.S. President Donald Trump's recent recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Trump's declaration this month sparked protests across the Palestinian territories, and Palestinian leaders said the U.S. could no longer serve as a Middle East peace broker.

According to a number of reports, the NBA apologized on Friday, arguing that the country listings were not formulated by the association but rather provided by a third party. "We apologize for this oversight, and have corrected it," said the NBA's President of Social Responsibility Kathy Behrens.

Regev thanked Silver on Friday for removing the language, adding "Israel's lands are not occupied; therefore what was written was false and should have been deleted."

"I thank Adam Silver, who realized the mistake and took immediate action to correct it.

"By this decision, Silver proves his integrity and fairness," Regev wrote, adding that she wished Silver continued success as head of the "world's best basketball league."
