Baltimore, MD - June 21 2017 - Last Wednesday sixty-six bochurim in Ner Yisrael’s Mechina completed Maseches Kidushin at a gala siyum. The event celebrated the difficult task these students undertook beyond the already demanding schedule of the Mechina.

In addition to learning the additional material, they took bechinos demonstrating their mastery of the of the masechta. The event featured guest speaker Rabbi Lipa Geldwerth a Magid Shiur in Torah Temima and Rov of Kehillas Kol Torah in Flatbush, NY. Rabbi Geldwerth described his joy at participating in such a momentous occasion. He characterized Baltimore as an “Ir Chadasha,” referring to a Yerushami in Eruvin, as the Torah of Ner Yisrael anchored the city and preceded the mass influx of inhabitants.

HaRav Simcha Cook, Menahel of the Mechina, noted that many other bochurim also gave up of their time and worked extremely hard, delving deeper into better understanding the Gemora, even if it meant not being able to be mesayem yet. He stressed that all talmidim of the Mechina contributed to making these siyumim possible by creating an atmosphere of learning and shteiging.
