Ramapo, NY - A Suffern property developer is due in court this week to face hate crime charges after threatening and attacking an Orthodox Jewish man.
Captain Marty Reilly of the Ramapo Police Department told VIN News that 74 year old Claudio Iodice was arrested on September 8th following the incident which took place at 214 Route 59 on August 31st.
The unidentified man, who came to Iodice’s office to collect money owed to him, said that Iodice refused to pay him and instead, grabbed him by the throat and forced him into a chair. The victim alleged that he managed to get away from Iodice, with the altercation continuing outside.
“The defendant began chasing the victim around his vehicle saying, ‘You’re not getting your money. I’m you to kill you, you (obscenity) Jew, you Jew (obscenity),’” said Reilly.
The victim reported the incident to Ramapo Police who arrested Iodice on September 8th. Iodice was charged with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation and Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree as a Hate Crime, both misdemeanors.
Iodice is due in the Village of Airmont Justice Court to face the charges on Thursday.
