Baltimore, MD - Dec. 31, 2015 - What do children with disabilities in Baltimore do during their week and a half long winter break? They have fun with Menucha! During winter break, Menucha had a well received mini camp run by Mrs. Malka Waldman and her very able staff. Parents dropped their children off at 9:30 and picked them up at 2:00 to find them happy and content.
A visitor to the program was suprised that such a calm atmosphere prevailed in a "camp" with so many children with special needs and sometimes challenging behaviors. This pleasant atmosphere was achieved entirely thanks to the dedication of Menucha's mini camp staff. One mother remarked, "You made my daughter so excited to wake up these last few mornings to see her friends and have such a great day! Thanks for helping to make her winter break a complete success!" Our thanks to the Baltimore Park Heights JCC and the Center for Jewish Education for their part in the mini camp.
In addition to the mini camp, Mrs. Rochel Vim's class at Bais Yaakov Middle School created a carnival once again for our children. Booths were filled with games geared to the children's capabilities and sense of amusement. The students used their creativity and talent to brighten the day for Menucha children. Menucha also thanks Rabbi Naftoli Hexter, principal of Bais Yaakov Middle School for the role he has played in Menucha through the years.
