Baltimore, MD - Dec. 25, 2015 - Dr. Edward Wolf, a Baltimore physician who is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, was recently elected to be the president of the medical staff of Sinai Hospital. The position is a two-year voluntary position that interfaces between Sinai medical staff members and the administration. He represents several hundred Sinai medical staff members, including private and full-time physicians, in advocating for various matters, including the allocation of funds raised by the medical staff.

Dr. Wolf has been affiliated with Sinai Hospital for 29 years, in addition to being the founder of a private 11-physican member practice, Woodholme Gastroenterology Associates,  that is affiliated with Lifebridge Health and has privileges in Sinai and other hospitals. Dr. Wolf and his wife, Faith, are longtime members of Suburban Orthodox Toras Chaim

“The medical staff at Sinai is dedicated to improving patient care, the education of physicians, and contributing towards the quality of medicine,” says Dr. Wolf. “Both the medical staff and the administration are dedicated to serving our community--specifically, the Northwest Baltimore community-- in any way that we can. If there are any specific issues that members of the community have, our medical staff is open to listening--we are all in this together to address both individual patient and communal needs.

“Sinai is a hospital that embraces traditional ideals with a cutting edge mentality,” continues Dr. Wolf. “It was founded as a Jewish hospital and I think that foundation is part of the core of Sinai Hospital. This is a very turbulent time in medicine, in general, but it is also a time of great opportunity and because of that I think that it is imperative for all of us to make our community hospital stronger. Members of the community are welcome to directly contact me or the administration--which is also interested in making Sinai Hospital more attractive to its own backyard.”

Dr. Wolf feels that our community should take advantage of the cutting edge medical care that Sinai offers. Just some examples of this innovative care include: the new cardiology techniques that are being performed by Dr. Mauro Moscucci--such as non-invasive intravascular repair of valves; and, the complete integrated, interdisciplinary care for the treatment of neurologic diseases and disorders, and sports-related neurology injuries, by  the nationally recognized Sports Neurology Center based at Sinai within The Sandra and Malcolm Berman Brain & Spine Institute.

“Sinai has a lot of potential in so many different areas and it really is a great resource for all of us,” concludes Dr. Wolf, mentioning that robotic surgery, remote patient care, and distance monitoring via electronics are among Sinai‘s latest technology. “We should support the hospital as an institution of our community.”

“I am looking forward to working with Dr. Wolf in his new role as president of the medical staff to further advance quality patient care and collaborate in new care models that promote population health,” said Amy Perry, president of Sinai Hospital and executive vice president of LifeBridge Health. “The mission of population health is to improve wellness by ensuring our patients receive the right level of services based on their needs and to increase their access to preventive care through community programs that support better health.”

“We are exceptionally proud of Dr. Wolf’s latest achievement,” notes Rabbi Shmuel Silber, Rav of Suburban Orthodox Toras Chaim. “Dr. Wolf is an exceptional physician and a true mentch.  His refined personality, middos, compassion and empathy coupled with his sharp intellect allow him to positively impact the lives of so many.  We wish Dr. Wolf incredible mazel in his new position and know that he will continue to improve the health of our community.

BaltimoreJewishLife.com (BJL) extends a heartfelt mazel tov to Dr. Wolf upon his new position.
