The Art and Practice of Living Wondrously is an inspiring and ambitious anthology curated by Dr. Ronit Ziv-Kreger, Director of Education at Momentum.
Momentum is an international organization dedicated to empowering Jewish mothers through transformative experiences, from life-changing trips to Israel and global leadership summits to an expansive multimedia platform and resources for Jewish living and learning. Since its founding in 2008, Momentum has engaged more than 24,000 participants from over 450 partner organizations in 35 countries through its flagship Momentum Journey of Growth program. In 2023, the organization was honored with the Jerusalem Unity Prize for promoting unity without uniformity in Israel and across the Jewish world.
In this thoughtfully curated collection, Ziv-Kreger brings together the personal insights and reflections of thirty-seven diverse contributors. The opening section, “Nurturing Relationships,” explores themes such as fostering friendships, raising resilient and spiritual children, and caring for parents. Among the contributors are Lori Palatnik, Momentum’s founding director, and Rabbi Dr. Binyamin Lau, who both share touching personal stories about their parents.
The following sections, “Navigating Through Challenging Straits” and “Being an Agent of Hope,” address life’s more difficult passages. The anthology’s section, “Drawing on Wisdom for Times of Loss,” begins with “Wisdom in Times of Loss” by Rabbi David Aaron. Each essay offers a distinct perspective and voice, creating a tapestry of wisdom that allows readers to find messages that resonate personally.
Notable contributors include Sivan Rahav-Meir, who shares “The Most Important Lessons I Have Learned About Meaning and Motivation,” reminding readers of the power of faith and purpose in challenging times. Holocaust survivor and best-selling author Dr. Edith Eger contributes “Choose Freedom,” a moving reflection on resilience and healing, included under the heading “Facing Mental Health Challenges.”
Adding to Baltimore connections with Momentum, Tara Brown was recently appointed as the organization’s new CEO. A longtime Maryland resident, Brown brings nearly two decades of professional leadership in the Jewish community. Deeply rooted in the Baltimore Jewish community, she serves on the Board of Directors of Beth Tfiloh Congregation, is an active parent at the Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School, and supports The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore. Brown previously served on the senior staff of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), where she held multiple leadership roles, including Mid-Atlantic Regional Director and National Director of Development Training and Education, launching innovative initiatives to strengthen engagement and support.
The Art and Practice of Living Wondrously is both uplifting and practical, a guide to navigating life’s challenges with faith, connection, and purpose. Whether read cover to cover or opened at random, each brief chapter offers timeless inspiration for finding and living with wonder.
