New York, July 29, 2025 – An NYPD officer has died after being shot in the back during a deadly shooting incident at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The officer was from a Bronx precinct and had been on assignment near the building when the shooting occurred. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital for surgery but did not survive, according to a law enforcement source.
The shooter, described as a lone gunman, was found dead inside the building from what officials believe to be a self-inflicted injury. Law enforcement released a photo of the suspect walking into the skyscraper carrying a large gun, wearing sunglasses and a dark jacket.
The building at 345 Park Avenue, which houses offices for the NFL and Blackstone, was the center of the morning’s chaos. The NYPD confirmed the scene was contained and the shooter was neutralized. A heavy police presence surrounded the building throughout the incident.
