Jeruslaem, Israel - May 23, 2025 - Yakir Yerushalayim (Worthy of Jerusalem) is an annual honor awarded by the Jerusalem Municipality in the days leading up to Yom Yerushalayim, celebrated on the 28th of Iyar, this year Sunday night and Monday, May 25-26, 2025.

The award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the city and its residents in areas such as education, culture, social welfare, and community life. It reflects the spirit of Psalm 122:3—“Built-up Jerusalem is like a city that was joined together”—by celebrating those who help unite and strengthen the diverse fabric of Jerusalem.

This year, the gala event was held at the Tower of David on Thursday night, May 22, with Mayor Moshe Lion honoring the 12 worthy individuals. Former Deputy President of the Israeli Supreme Court Elyakim Rubenstein spoke for the awardees at the end of the program, which was enhanced by music and lighting.
