Jerusalem, Israel - April 2, 2025 - The 14th International Jerusalem 'Winner' Marathon will take place on Friday, April 4th, 2025, with tens of thousands of runners from Israel and around the world expected to participate. This year, the marathon will honor the IDF, security, and rescue forces for their exceptional contributions during the Iron Swords War.

The 14th International Jerusalem 'Winner' Marathon held a special launch event today for foreign journalists at the Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem. The event was attended by Moshe Lion, Mayor of Jerusalem, followed by Ariella Rajuan, Deputy Director General and Director of the Culture, Society, and Sports Administration at the Jerusalem Municipality.

At the event, two inspiring runners shared their personal stories, adding a heartfelt dimension to the upcoming marathon. Yoel Levy, a UK-based fitness coach and content creator, made a bold statement by attending the press event dressed in a full Batman costume. He will run the full marathon in the same outfit to honor the Bibas boys, whose tragic story profoundly affected him. In addition to dedicating his run to the Bibas family, Levy is also supporting Shalva, an organization close to his heart, as both his sister and cousin have Down syndrome. His unique and powerful gesture of raising awareness for both causes is sure to inspire participants and spectators alike.

Joining Levy was Jerusalem native Yaakov Zerem, an 84-year-old veteran runner of the International Jerusalem Winner Marathon. Despite recovering from a serious injury, Zerem is determined to participate in the 10 km race, emphasizing that his love for the sport drives him to return year after year. Zerem’s story is a testament to the enduring spirit of perseverance and passion that the marathon celebrates.

Moshe Lion: "In these challenging times, we choose life — and we choose to run. Many runners are participating with a cause close to their hearts, in solidarity with the hostages and bereaved families. I will proudly join the 5K race alongside Karina Ariev, who survived 477 days in Hamas captivity — her courage inspires us all. The participation of thousands of soldiers, emergency responders, and volunteers is a powerful symbol of resilience and the victory of life and freedom."

Ariella Rajuan: "I am delighted to see runners from around the world once again coming to Jerusalem to take part in this extraordinary marathon. The International Jerusalem 'Winner' Marathon is, first and foremost, an opportunity to run through history—along a course where legendary figures once walked, shaping our civilization. But beyond the past, it is also a chance to experience the vibrant and dynamic Jerusalem of today. This city has always brought people together, and the International Jerusalem 'Winner' Marathon continues to unite residents and visitors from across the country and around the world. I invite everyone to return and discover Jerusalem—I promise an experience as unforgettable and inspiring as the marathon itself."

The International Jerusalem Winner Marathon is one of the most scenic, prestigious, and challenging marathons in the world, attracting elite runners and enthusiasts alike. The marathon’s route winds through Jerusalem’s iconic landmarks, including the Israel Museum, Supreme Court, and the Old City walls, offering participants a unique experience that blends sport with history.

Beyond the race itself, the International Jerusalem Winner Marathon serves as a celebration of community, perseverance, and social responsibility. Recognized as Israel’s largest social marathon, the event brings together thousands of participants who run in support of charitable organizations such as Shalva, ADI, and the Israel Cancer Association.

The marathon will feature six race categories: the Full Marathon (42.2 km), Half Marathon (21.1 km), 10 km, 5 km, Family Race (1.7 km), and Community Race (800 meters), ensuring there’s a challenge for every runner, regardless of their experience level.
