Bringing Shabbat to the survivors
In July 2024 Kesher Yehudi brought 180 Nova Festival survivors together for a Shabbat experience at the Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem, Israel.
“The media tells us we are separate, but we are not - we are one people,” said Kesher Yehudi founder Tzili Schneider. “This weekend we put everything aside - phones, work, the outside world - to focus on that which connects us. This Shabbat, we honor the memory of everyone who fell, those you lit candles for. In our unity and holiness, we will become memorial candles that honor those murdered on October 7.”
There have been other Shabbat and Chavrusa learning experiences with families of hostages and survivors at the Waldorf Hotel and the Ramada Hotel sponsored by Kesher Yehudi.
At the Ramada Hotel, Kesher Yehudi organized a Shabbat experience starting on February 7, 2025, with opening keynote speaker Rav Yosef Zvi Rimon. Rav Rimon offered his book on Shabbat for free to anyone who wanted. The books were piled up in the lobby after Shabbat along with another Kesher Yehudi gift available - a besomim holder.
The music and ruach were again led by Yonatan Razel who continues to show extensive patience with his fans wanting to speak with him or take selfies.
Unity was extended in wishing bracha for the hostages and hugs with learning partners as participants boarded bus transportation south to Beer Sheva and beyond.
