Jerusalem, Israel - Dec. 27, 2024  - Staff Sergeant Roey Weiser, z'l, Hy"d, was a hero who led his soldiers and bravely fell in battle on October 7, 2023. It has been reported he was the first casualty that morning in the war that started with the invasion by Hamas terrorists from Gaza.

He was buried with honor in the Military Cemetery in Kfar Etzion in Gush Etzion, near where his family lives in Efrat.

Roey's grandfather, Andy Weiser graduated from TA. The Weiser family had and still has strong links to Maryland, though Andy's family made aliyah many years ago.

One of Roey's favorite foods was donuts. "He looked forward to enjoying them every year."

In honor of the month of Kislev, the family initiated a donut project in his memory, "Chanukkah is a celebration of light, a quality Roey always embodied."

When enjoying a donut, they ask you to take a photo, and tag #DonutsForRoey on social media in his memory.
