Many family members spoke, sharing emotional statements on behalf of the family and community. In a poignant move, Efraim's mother placed a photo of Efraim on the table, and all present received a button with Efraim’s picture. The Judge was moved, and spoke briefly with each family member when they finished reading. “Help my daughter live”
I am Esti, Lali’s mother.
Our Lali is a child we longed for and waited for five years. She is all the light and joy of our home, and all I want is for her to stay here with us.
Not long ago, she started feeling unwell. We took her to doctors, and what they discovered simply broke our hearts—she has cancer. Since then, nothing has been the same. We are trying to stay strong for her, but inside, we are falling apart.
Her treatments cost a lot, far beyond what we can manage alone. I am asking you, anyone who can contribute, to help us save Lali. Every donation, every bit of support—it’s for her and for us.
Please daven for Leah bas Esther for a full recovery.
May you never know such pain,
Esti

White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby claimed Thursday that many of the purported drone sightings spotted over New Jersey for the past several weeks are actually lawfully operated manned aircraft.
"We have no evidence at this time that the reported drone sightings pose a national security or a public safety threat, or have a foreign nexus," Kirby told reporters at the daily White House press briefing. "The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI are investigating these sightings, and they're working closely with state and local law enforcement to provide resources using numerous detection methods to better understand their origin."
"Using very sophisticated electronic detection technologies provided by fed...
An “enormous” projected budget deficit over the next five years will not slow down efforts to fill vacant state jobs, the state budget secretary said Wednesday.
Budget Secretary Helene Grady, speaking to the Joint Committee on Fair Practices and State Personnel, acknowledged the looming fiscal challenge but said, when questioned by comittee members, that those challenges will not sidetrack efforts to “rebuild state government.”
Grady said managing the need for new staff and a projected $2.7 billion deficit for fiscal 2026 “is a balancing act.”
“What I can say at this point is, agencies continue to be authorized to recruit and fill roles,” she said. “We do not have an across-the-board hiring freeze in place. We encourage age...
Baltimore, MD - Dec. 12, 2024 - On The C4 and Bryan Nehman Show, Worley says the city’s position hasn’t changed and that the mayor has made it pretty clear that they will not work with ICE, however, “We are going to continue to investigate crime.”
In October, the ICE Baltimore field director told WBAL that they have an “estranged relationship” with the Baltimore City Police Department.
He said as a result of the federal consent decree, the DOJ’s Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties told them they should be “apprehensive about working with us.”
Worley said that there has been “a spike within the Hispanic communities.”
The Israel Defense Forces believes that following the weakening of Iranian proxy groups in the Middle East and the dramatic fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, there is an opportunity to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities, military officials said Thursday.
The Israeli Air Force has therefore continued to increase its readiness and preparations for such potential strikes in Iran.
The IDF also believes that Iran — isolated after the fall of the Assad regime and the weakening of its main proxy group Hezbollah in Lebanon — may push ahead further with its nuclear program and develop a bomb as it scrambles to replace its deterrence.
Iran has always denied seeking nuclear weapons and says both its space program and nuclear activities are for purely civilian p...
President Joe Biden is commuting the sentences of roughly 1,500 people who were released from prison and placed on home confinement during the coronavirus pandemic and is pardoning 39 Americans convicted of nonviolent crimes. It’s the largest single-day act of clemency in modern history.
The commutations announced Thursday are for people who have served out home confinement sentences for at least one year after they were released. Prisons were uniquely bad for spreading the virus and some inmates were released in part to stop the spread. At one point, 1 in 5 prisoners had COVID-19, according to a tally kept by The Associated Press.
Biden said he would be taking more steps in the weeks ahead and would continue to review clemency petitions. The...
President-elect Donald Trump rang the opening bell Thursday at the New York Stock Exchange after being recognized for the second time by Time magazine as its person of the year.
The honors for the businessman-turned-politician are a measure of Trump’s remarkable comeback from an ostracized former president who refused to accept his election loss four years ago to a president-elect who won the White House decisively in November.
Before he rang the opening bell at 9:30 a.m., a first for him, Trump spoke at the exchange and called it “a tremendous honor.”
“Time magazine, getting this honor for the second time, I think I like it better this time actually,” he said.

Macy's, which launched a comprehensive strategy to revive its struggling business, announced Wednesday that it is accelerating its planned store closures for the year.
CEO Tony Spring told analysts during an earnings call that Macy’s now expects to close about 65 locations this year, up from its previous forecast of 50 announced at the start of the year.
However, Spring added that the "closures will occur post holiday."
The company is still on track with its plans to close 150 locations over three years as part of its strategy dubbed, a "Bold New Chapter", that was announced in February.
The goal, according to Spring, is to get to a fleet that "can provide sustainable, profitable growth for the enterprise."
CFO Adrian Mitchell reiterated t...
Hamas has yielded to two of Israel’s key demands for a cease-fire deal in Gaza, Arab mediators said, raising hopes of an agreement that could release some hostages within days despite the repeated collapse of previous negotiations.
The militant group told mediators for the first time that it would agree to a deal that would allow Israeli forces to remain in Gaza temporarily when the fighting stops. Hamas also handed over a list of hostages, including U.S. citizens, whom it would release under a cease-fire pact, something it hasn’t done since the first truce in the conflict last year.
The new plan, proposed by Cairo and backed by the U.S., seeks to build on momentum generated by the cease-fire in Lebanon secured in November, which has broadly held despite...

It often forms on bridges, shaded areas, and untreated roadways, especially during early morning hours. Drivers are urged to slow down, avoid sudden braking or sharp turns, and maintain a safe following distance. This morning, black ice has been reported around the community.
