Jerusalem, Israel - Aug. 19, 2024  - Many Israeli families are not traveling overseas this summer and looking for things to do with their children not in school. Also, tourists are looking for indoor activities to escape the summer sun.

Infinity, initiated by the Jerusalem Municipality and the Ariel Municipal Company, and designed by Dakar Azulay, is an exhibition hard to describe in words and photographs. It combines lighting, music, and special visual effects and mirrors to create a unique experience for each visitor.

The official name is “Infinity Museum” for this experience of light, sound, and interactive visual art. It opened on August 14, 2024, with a special event held after Shabbat Nachamu with Mayor Moshe Lion speaking, and is to run until the end of October. Jerusalem Municipality is hosting multiple events to keep morale up even as the war goes on and hostages are held in Gaza.

The exhibition consists of eight sections or rooms around a main circular area. Each section is a unique experience. One room has a 12-minute video with the change of seasons. That space has balls of various sizes, to throw, sit on, or as one man did pile them up to the ceiling. Another room had changing lights as a disco effect, and another had bean bag-like chairs to sit and watch the video projected on the walls.

Most of the exhibition is hands-on and family-friendly. Infinity is suitable for adults and children and covers close to 20,000 square feet inside with a temperature-controlled space with a few areas to sit and watch the action.

Because of the pulsating lights and visual stimulation, caution would be recommended for anyone with seizure disorders.

An hour or more is the time to view the exhibition. Pricing is the issue. For some, the unique experience would be a good summer treat.

Tickets are NIS 114 each, though discounts are available for certain Israeli credit cardholders. The site is open daily from 4 p.m., and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed on Saturday nights.
