MIXiii Health-Tech.IL Annual Conference Recognizes Resilience of Israel’s Life Sciences Industry Amid War
Jerusalem, Israel – March 7, 2024 – Israel Advanced Technology Industries (IATI), Israel’s umbrella organization of the high-tech, life science, and other advanced technology industries held its annual MIXiii Health-Tech.IL Conference this week (5-6 March). The event, the largest health tech and life sciences conference in Israel, attracted more than 1,700 attendees from Israel and abroad to discuss industry developments and showcase the resilience and growth of the Israeli life science sector amid the war.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog shared warm opening remarks, saying, "Bringing together the Israeli health tech and life science communities has never been more important. The global pandemic and its long-lasting impact have demonstrated the global health ecosystem is interconnected, and innovations, some created in Israel, are making previously unimaginable outcomes possible. Now, is the perfect time to come together to devise innovative methods to save and improve the lives of people in Israel, the Middle East, and around the world."
Opening on the second day, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, Stephanie Hallett said to the plenary audience, “Israel has a unique ecosystem built on the innovative efforts of the health-tech and life sciences industry. Collaborations between Israel, the United States, and global partners hold immense potential to strengthen the global bioeconomy and revolutionize healthcare, from AI-driven drug discovery to advanced medical equipment all built on our longstanding partnerships in R&D.”
During the conference, IATI unveiled its annual Life Science Industry report, conducted in partnership with PwC and the Israel Innovation Authority. There are currently 1,800 active life science companies in Israel employing around 78,000 people. The research found that Israeli life science companies raised $2.2 billion in 2023, down 40% on 2022 funding.

This year's MIXiii Health-Tech.IL Conference held at the Jerusalem International Conference Center united four separate events under one banner, including the Israel Technology Transfer Network Conference, a digital health startup competition run by EY, and the annual Israeli Ophthalmology Innovation Summit Conference. The event included more than 70 sessions, spanning a wide range of topics including the role of AI in health and pharma, redefining hospitals in the digitization era, stem cell innovation in food-tech, and more.
