Baltimore school officials unveiled a new fleet of EV buses to replace several diesel-powered vehicles.

Baltimore City Public Schools officials unveiled 25 EV buses on Tuesday. The buses will be used for the 2024-25 school year to transport about 350 students to and from class daily.

“I am excited for our electric buses in our school system because it tells me that we’re thinking ahead about environmental issues and we are helping to keep our Earth clean,” said Joseph, a fifth grade student at Graceland Park/O’Donnell Heights Elementary/Middle School.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean School Bus Program provided more than $9.4 million for the EV buses. The program aims to bring cleaner air and reliable transportation to students who are disproportionately impacted by climate change.... Read More: WBAL
