Baltimore, MD - Sept. 19, 2023 -   The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) is intensifying efforts to prevent cars from parking in bike lanes, a practice which endangers cyclists. This initiative comes in response to repeated instances of vehicles obstructing the two-wheel lanes, forcing cyclists to divert into traffic or onto curbs to avoid parked cars. WMAR2News reports a group called "Baltimore Drivers" has been documenting instances of this on a social media platform, with the DOT amplifying these posts on their page to raise awareness. In recent weeks, traffic enforcement officers have issued 52 tickets for bike lane parking violations, each carrying a fine of $252, in an effort to educate the public and encourage adherence to no-park lane rules.
