Baltimore, MD – May 9, 2023 -  Baltimore City's ongoing juvenile crime crisis has led to increased frustration among residents, with some local leaders, such as Rev. P.M. Smith, calling on state lawmakers like Senator Jill Carter to take stronger action against crime through legislation, according to FOX45. "Ms. Jill Carter is the mother of all these weak crime bills. She doesn't have a child. She's supposed to be a lawyer, but she doesn't have a child. She has no skin in the game. She doesn't have a clue," said Smith.

The city has seen 93 homicides and 206 non-fatal shootings so far this year, and residents are demanding more effective solutions to curb the violence. Senator Carter has responded to the criticism, stating that it is a "baseless attack" and suggesting that church leaders focus on community engagement to prevent violence rather than playing the blame game.
