Jerusalem, Israel - June 29, 2021 - When Vivienne Glaser launched Swim4Sadna, she created more than a women-only event to raise money for a cause close to her heart, but also a supportive community. The annual women's swim on the Kinneret did not take place in 2020 as planned due to the coronavirus. For the eleventh time, the 2021 swim was held on Friday morning, June 25, 2021.
As always the event accommodates Shabbat observance and women's privacy. It is not a race, there are stops in the lake to rest and the swimmers go as a group. In past years participants came to Israel from overseas to swim. Some regular participants did not swim this year, as pools were closed for much of the year, and getting into the water to train was an additional corona challenge. However, BJL was told they hope to swim again next year.
Sadna stands for Sadnat Shiluv which provides people with disabilities training to integrate into the community, a place where each individual is encouraged to work to the best of their abilities. For over 20 years the "workshop" located in Gush Etzion has grown.
Swim4Sadna funds raised over the years have added valuable additions to the Sadna campus. This year's funds will go to renovate the inclusive coffee shop Cafe Ba'Chorsha.
