Jerusalem, Israel - May 24, 2021 - The sun was shining and the sky blue over Jerusalem, Israel on Monday afternoon May 24th. Temperatures were pleasant, not summer hot, perfect for being outside.
After the recently announced ceasefire from the latest mini-war Operation Guardian of the Walls, the threats from Hamas in Gaza are at a low for an undetermined length of time.
An IDF soldier and a civilian were stabbed in the morning near a Jerusalem Light Rail station. Extra security was seen at multiple locations in and around the center of Jerusalem in the afternoon. New bollards have been constructed at locations along the Light Rail tracks near the Old City. The Old City near Jaffa Gate was not busy with few people around.
An EMT stood near his motorcycle along Jaffa Road. The crowds shopping and sitting at cafes along Jaffa Road have not returned. Mamilla Mall and the shops in the Old City also were not seen with the usual numbers of customers.
Building and road word was slow due to the month of Ramadan followed by the war situation. But the sounds and sights of construction are getting back to the previous levels as Jerusalem slowly emerges and prepares for business and tourists to return.
