Jerusalem, Israel - Jan. 11, 2021 - On Sunday, January 10, 2021, with the arrival in Israel of the latest shipment of coronavirus vaccines, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "This is a great day for the State of Israel with a huge shipment that has arrived in the framework of 'Operation Back to Life' a plane full of injections of encouragement." He was accompanied by Health Minister Yuli Edelstein for the photo op at Ben Gurion Airport.

As the vaccination drive is proceeding with millions entering the second round of injections for 65 and over, the 50-year-old and up age-group are booking their appointments to get inoculated against COVID-19.

However, there is a two-week lockdown and it is very noticeable in Jerusalem. The protest site near the Prime Minister's Residence was quiet on Monday morning. A man was washing the entrance windows of the Jerusalem Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The hotel was closed as are Israeli hotels, other than the ones used to quarantine returning travelers.

Mamilla Mall is closed. Doors were open only for stores doing renovations. Public transportation, buses, and light rail trains are running, but with fewer passengers, and with Instructions to keep a distance and wear a mask.

The Machane Yehudah Market is open, receiving deliveries, but with fewer shoppers than usual.

A 1000 meter distance limit is in effect. Traveling for health appointments, and to get the vaccine is permitted. However, random police stops have been checking cars entering Jerusalem, one was near Sacher Park. The fines for not complying with the new set of stricter regulations have been raised.

The sun has been shining and the weather unseasonably warm during the latest lockdown. Construction and road work seems to be everywhere, especially near the entrance to the city.

People of all ages were outside, in Safra Square and Sacher Park, trying to make the best of another lockdown and schools closed. Hopes are that the arrival of more vaccines will bring an end to the lockdowns, distancing, COIVD-19 pandemic, and a return of back to school and work.
