Israel set to receive first shipment of vaccine doses Wednesday

As the first shipment of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines is set to arrive in Israel on Wednesday in a straight flight from Belgium, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Tuesday the safety and efficacy of the vaccines.

According to the Washington Post, the FDA released a 53-page document assessing the vaccine developed by the US pharmaceutical company and German biotech firm, confirming it raises “no specific safety concerns.”

Data collected from 38,000 trial participants after two months of follow-up from the second dose of the vaccine “suggest a favorable safety profile, with no specific safety concerns identified that would preclude issuance of an EUA [emergency use authorization],” the FDA noted.
