'Our sisterhood is resilient,' Ilhan Omar tweets after declared winner of Minnesota's fifth district

Progressive US congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashid Tlaib won their 2020 re-elections by comfortable margins, US media reported Wednesday.

The four Democrats, all women of color and dubbed the "Squad,” represent a pull to the left in the Democratic party. Besides touting progressive domestic policies, they have also spearheaded efforts to condition aid to Israel with settlement activity in the West Bank.

The four have been staunch opponents of US President Donald Trump, who is seeking re-election in a contentious race, the votes of which are still being counted.

New York’s Ocasio-Cortez won New York’s 17th district against Republican John Cummings with over 65 percent voting for her so far. She reportedly spent $10 million less on the campaign than Cummings. Read more at i24
