If victorious, Biden-Harris will reopen US consulate in East Jerusalem, PA mission in Washington, D.C.

US vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris said she and running mate Joe Biden would oppose unilateral action by Israel that “undermine” a two-state solution and reinstate funding for the Palestinians, according to an interview published last Wednesday by The Arab American News.

Harris said a Biden presidency is "committed to a two-state solution, and we will oppose any unilateral steps that undermine that goal. We will also oppose annexation and settlement expansion."

US President Donald Trump, facing former Vice President Biden today in presidential elections, has recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The move caused the Palestinian Authority and Trump to cut ties, including the closure of diplomatic missions and ending of funding to the Palestinians. Trump's policies have been perceived as favorable to Israel.

"Joe and I also believe in the worth and value of every Palestinian and every Israeli and we will work to ensure that Palestinians and Israelis enjoy equal measures of freedom, security, prosperity and democracy," Harris said.

A Biden administration, according to Harris, "will take immediate steps to restore economic and humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people, address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, reopen the U.S. consulate in East Jerusalem and work to reopen the PLO mission in Washington."
