Veteran Palestinian peace negotiator Saeb Erekat is being moved to a Tel Aviv hospital after his battle with COVID-19, which he contracted earlier this month, began to significantly deteriorate, according to Israeli media sources.

Jerusalem approved the decision after receiving an urgent request from the Palestinian Authority (PA), which stressed that he was in immediate need of medical attention.
"Following [Erekat’s] contraction of COVID-19, and due to the chronic health problems he faces in the respiratory system, Dr Erekat’s condition now requires medical attention in a hospital. He is currently being transferred to a hospital in Tel Aviv,” the PLO Negotiation Affairs department said in a statement. Read more at i24
According to Israeli broadcaster Channel 12, Israeli emergency medical units arrived at Erekat's West Bank home on Sunday afternoon to escort him to the hospital.
