Israel's defense minister vows not to extend 'special emergency situation' beyond Wednesday
Mixed messages were released by the Israeli government on Sunday, as Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz and the Health Ministry seemed to be at odds over the reopening of schools.

“We will begin preparing the reopening of the education system for preschoolers in a number of days while conducting widespread tests,” Gantz said in a statement released to the media.
“Already today it is clear that there is no reason to uphold the special emergency situation we have entered which is why we won’t allow its extension on Wednesday,” the former military chief added in light of the recent decline in morbidity rates diagnosed in screening tests for coronavirus.
