Health Ministry records 18 more COVID-19 deaths since midnight as toll climbs to 1,980

Israel registered 888 cases of the coronavirus in 24 hours, according to Health Ministry figures made public on Sunday evening, confirming the continued downward trend in morbidity in the country.

However, the number of screening tests was significantly lower than average as well, with 13,409 tests conducted on Saturday.

Of the 13,409 people screened, 7.3% tested positive. 

The death toll rose to 1,980 with 18 patients dying since midnight Saturday. 

Of the 59,854 active cases, 824 people were in serious condition, with 230 on artificial lung ventilation; 303 were in moderate condition and the rest showed mild or no symptoms. Read more at i24
