The head of Israel's central bank Professor Amir Yaron on Thursday called on the government to immediately allow small businesses to reopen as fears of a deepening economic crisis continues to grow.
"The country must take advantage of the sharply declining morbidity rate and the strict application of sanitary measures to allow businesses to operate," the Bank of Israel governor told Army Radio during an interview.

Yaron also touched on the looming budget vote in Knesset (Israel Parliament), which has become one of the most pressing issues in the country and a point of bitter contention between the country's two biggest coalition partners, Likud and Blue & White.
"One of the biggest problems for the country is the fact that the budget for 2021 has not yet been approved, adding unnecessary uncertainty in the face of the crisis," he said.
"It is essential that a budget capable of adapting the tools at our disposal to current challenges be approved as quickly as possible." Read more at i24
