With 61,639 active cases in the country, positive test ratio drops off below 10 percent first time in weeks

Israel added 4,129 new COVID-19 coronavirus infections on Wednesday, the country's Health Ministry reported Thursday morning.

According to the update early on Thursday, 49,068 tests were taken over the past 24 hours, the positive test ratio stood at 8.9 percent. 

This was the first time that the ratio stood below the 10 percent mark in weeks, with the Israeli government earlier voicing cautious optimism regarding the effect of the ongoing lockdown on new infections. Read more at i24
