Israel's Cabinet on Tuesday evening approved the extension of controversial coronavirus restrictions limiting demonstrations and prayers services in an effort to drive down surging COVID-19 infections.
Initially passed by the government during an Israeli Parliament vote last week, the strict measures will stay in place until October 13. A cabinet vote is required to renew the limitations every week, according to The Jerusalem Post.

The restrictions notably prohibit protesters from assembling more than a kilometer (0.6 miles) from their homes and limit outdoor gatherings to groups of 20 people.
Restrictions have also been placed on Israel's religious sector, prohibiting prayer services and banning gatherings for the usually festive Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) holiday which ends on October 9. Read more at i24
