Positive test ratio rockets to 12.3 percent, with number of people in hospitals approaching 1,000

Israel added 2,257 new COVID-19 coronavirus infections Sunday, the Health Ministry reported Monday.

With 18,414 tests conducted over the past 24 hours, the positive test ratio rocketed to 12.3 percent -- the highest figure in weeks, if not throughout the pandemic.

The death toll in the country reached 1,022, with three more fatalities against the figure reported on Sunday.

The number of active cases in Israel rose to 27,099, including 934 patients in hospitals. Out of those, 476 are in a serious state, and 137 are in need of artificial lung ventilation. Read more at i24
