Restaurants, businesses working in tourism and events sectors worst-hit by pandemic

In June, the number of Israeli businesses filing for bankruptcy Israel soared by 75 percent against the previous year, the county's Justice Ministry revealed in a report published Sunday.

In June 2020, 2,038 businesses applied for bankruptcy, while in June 2019, the figure stood at 1,165.

According to the publication, Israeli restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as companies working in tourism and events sectors, were the ones worst-hit in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

Saturday night, thousands took to the streets in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to protest against corruption and the government's management of the pandemic, as well as its economic fallout. Read more at i24
