Israel is expected to start transferring NIS 800 million ($228 million) in loans to the Palestinian Authority on Sunday to compensate for the financial losses incurred by the coronavirus pandemic.
Israel’s Supreme Court was informed by Jerusalem on Thursday of the initiative, according to the daily Yisrael Hayom, saying that the funds would be transferred in several installments over the next few months.
According to the report, Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered him to grant the loan to the Palestinian Authority.
This decision was also coordinated with Defense Minister Naftali Bennett and national security adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat.
