The Jerusalem Magistrate Court extended on Friday morning the detention of Sand al-Turman, a Palestinian who was responsible for car-ramming 12 Israeli soldiers near the First Station site in Jerusalem.

Prior to the discussion in the courtroom, the suspect’s brother, Muhammad, defended his sibling, saying “maybe he fell asleep on the wheel. I arrived with him after a few hours to the police station, it’s not that he was caught by security forces,” Hebrew-language outlet Ynet reported.

However, the Israel Border Police stated that al-Turman was apprehended while trying to flee.
