President Rivlin:

“The care that you offer, the expertise and the assistance, are like first aid. We are standing in a place thanks to which thousands of worlds have been saved and exist, again and again.”

President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin today, Monday 2 December / 4 Kislev, visited the day-care rehabilitation center of Ezra Le’Marpeh, founded and headed by Israel Prize winner Rabbi Elimelech Firer. The day-care center in Bnai Brak includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, employment advisors, speech clinic, personal trainers and general medical rehabilitation support.

The president visited the day-care rehabilitation center, accompanied by Rabbi Firer and the center’s manager Yitzhak Green, as well the rehabilitation pool where children and adults with physical injuries are treated, and the sensory rehabilitation area.

“It is a great honor to come here to congratulate and thank you for your work, Rabbi,” said the president at the beginning of his remarks. “At Beit HaNasi, I receive endless phone calls with requests from people asking for help to get to Rabbi Firer and I say the same thing to everyone: you and I will get the same response from the Rabbi, who relates to every person in the same way. The Rabbi’s ability to learn the minutiae of the medical world leaves us speechless time after time. This wonderful institution you have built here is a source of light in so many homes where darkness has fallen, and there is nothing like it in the whole world. Your ability to bring hope to those who have none, even when it is their last hope, is a true act of chesed, of lovingkindness. I asked to come here as an act of appreciation on behalf of the whole country.”

The president added, “the care that you offer, the expertise and the assistance, are like first aid. We are standing in a place thanks to which thousands of worlds have been saved and exist, again and again.”

Rabbi Elimelech Firer thanked the president for his support and for his extensive work in bringing together all the tribes of Israel. “This visit encourages volunteers from all parts of society. “I have been fortunate to know the president for decades from his wide-ranging public service, the common thread of which is his care for others, the goodness of his heart and his ear which is always open to hearing,” said Rabbi Firer.
