Jerusalem, Israel - Nov. 28, 2019 - For the first time, the Lone Soldier Center in memory of Michael Levin, zl,  (LSC) held its annual Thanksgiving dinner in Jerusalem, Israel, instead of Tel Aviv. On Thursday night, November 28,  a large tent at the tourist center First Station held the celebration.

Also a first, the LSC invited United States Marines who guard the US Embassy in Jerusalem to join in the celebration. The menu included traditional cornbread, turkey, green beans, salad, and sweet potatoes, with plenty of beer and coffee to drink. Live music and football were also provided to the hundreds of lone soldiers who attended. 

Deputy Jerusalem Mayor Fleur Hassan-Nahoum welcomed the young people who came from around the world, away from their families, to serve in defense of Israel to the event in Jerusalem. Minister of Defense Naftali Bennett came and spoke briefly, asking if he should speak in Hebrew or English, the response was overwhelming - "Hebrew." Before leaving Bennett went toward the security barrier, shaking hands and taking photos with dozens of young men and women soldiers most all of whom were out of uniform.

Former MK and Ambassador Michael Oren and former MK Dov Lipman were in attendance as in past years. as were dozens of volunteers who helped serve and staff the event.
