There is now a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the shooting of two children and three adults on Friday night in South Baltimore
The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and Metro Crime Stoppers are contributing the money to make up the reward.
“ATF stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Baltimore Police Department as we work to identify armed criminals preying on our communities,” said ATF Baltimore Special Agent in Charge Rob Cekada. “We will work tirelessly to investigate and incarcerate those persons responsible for these senseless shootings. ATF will not take the pressure off of armed criminals until Baltimore neighborhoods can be free of violence.”
The shooting occurred on Friday night in the 1900 block of Ramsay Street.
Medics were called to the scene and transported an adult female who was shot in the neck, a 1-year-old shot in the leg and a 2-year-old shot in the torso to area hospitals, officials said.
Two adult males walked into area hospitals seeking treatment for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, officials said. Detectives believe the two men were wounded during the incident.
All of the shooting victims are currently in stable condition at area hospitals.
On Saturday, Baltimore City Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said officers are looking for a silver or gold sedan seen speeding away from the scene.
"I am very grateful to the ATF and Metro Crime Stoppers for offering this significant reward and for their ongoing partnership with the Baltimore Police Department,” said Harrison, in an ATF news release.
“The person or people responsible for this heinous crime must, and will, be brought to justice, and I am urging anyone with information about the case to contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP or the Baltimore Police Department's Citywide Shooting Unit at 410-396-2221."
This afternoon, Mayor Jack Young will join Harris and other officials in a door-to-door canvas of the neighborhood. Officials hope it will help potential witnesses come forward.
Chad Turner, a resident in the area and father of three children, said he heard about eight shots.
"I don't even know if I want them outside. I just want to know why? What made someone want to do that?" Turner said.
Baltimore City Councilman Brandon Scott shared his frustrations on the shooting via Twitter. He tweeted: "All shootings are tragic but the shooting of our babies are the most heinous. We must track down the individuals responsible now. Police, Elected Officials, Community all working together. We can't accept or become comfortable with this type of cowardice. This disease of violence and the culture around it can be cured. Tough work ahead but we can do it!"
Citywide Shooting detectives responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Baltimore Police Department Citywide Shooting detectives, at 410-396-2221.
