In recent days, Women of the Wall (WoW) has been working to raise funds to finance security guards to accompany them in their monthly provocation at the Kosel. According to the campaign’s explanation, the Women of the Wall are afraid for their lives, and therefore they have enlisted bodyguards to protect them, but every security guard cost about NIS 1,000 monthly and they are asking the public to assist in covering the cost.
“The extremists have become more extreme and the police and the security guards have become more passive and hostile, and the result is clear to anyone with eyes in his head: the writing is on the wall, blood will be spilled at the Kosel,” they wrote.
But it seems that the concerns of the WoW members are not sufficient to persuade the public to open their pockets, and despite the fear that it is a matter of time before blood will be spilled if there are no security guards, the public does not appear to be moved by the sounds of weeping and crying.
