Jerusalem, Israel - July 31, 2018 - One of the major problems for new immigrants to Israel is learning Hebrew. Today's vocabulary and slang are not the same words or expressions learned years ago in school. Until recently only municipal ulpan courses were covered by the government stipends for new olim, private ulpan courses had to be paid by the students.

After having studied literature and linguistics on the bachelors level and psychology on the masters, Ami Steinberger decided to draw upon his hobby of learning languages, his understanding of human thought processes, and his skill of explaining complex ideas in simple terms, to found Ulpan La-Inyan, a program that enables people to speak Hebrew with confidence. In 2017, for the first time, new olim were able to use their stipends in private ulpan programs such as Ulpan La-Inyan.

In 2008, Steinberger started the first class at Ulpan La-Inyan in Jerusalem, Israel. On Tuesday night, Uplan La-Inyan celebrated a decade of service and growth, as well as the opening of its expanded, new Jerusalem center in the Talpiot neighborhood, next to Hadar Mall.

Past, present and future students were invited to come and bring a friend for a night of food, falafel and pita, chips and Israeli salad, drinks, games, and Hebrew lessons.

Also the evening honored beloved teacher, Avi Mermelstein, who has taught for nine years at Ulpan La-Inyan.

Since 2010, Ulpan La-Inyan has offered a free learning tool called "Daily dose of Hebrew." From anywhere in the world, one can sign up and increase their vocabulary and comprehension. https://ulpan.com/your-daily-dose-of-hebrew/
