The family of the IDF officer, Lieutenant Hadar Goldin HY”D, held by Hamas, turned to Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman and the Coordinator of Prisoners & Missing Persons Affairs Yaron Blum and asked them to convey a message to the Palestinians and the international community that the Kerem Shalom crossing will not be reopened until the return of IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians by Hamas in Gaza.

On Sunday morning, 28 Iyar, following the vandalism and destruction of the crossing by the Palestinians, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman decided to close the crossing until further notice.

Professor Simcha Goldin, Hadar’s father, said on motzei Shabbos: “The crossing at Kerem Shalom is humanitarian, and as such, its operation must be conditional on the return of the soldiers and civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law.
