Benny Gantz announced on Saturday that he will travel to Washington to meet President  Trump and discuss his administration’s Middle East peace plan on Monday, separately from his political rival.

Gantz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were invited to the White House next Tuesday, which falls on the same date as the Knesset (Israeli parliament) vote on forming the committee that could strip away Netanyahu’s parliamentary immunity.

Yet Gantz — reportedly worried he was bound to appear as a minor player in such a meeting, while not wanting to say no to Trump — said that he would instead go to DC separately, “as the leader of the largest party in Israel.”
