Jerusalem, Israel - Apr. 23, 2018 - The Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem, Israel, hosted an event marking Israel's 70th anniversary, with the participation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and  Israeli and foreign ambassadors on Monday evening.

In his remarks Netanyahu emphasized, "Israel’s policy has not changed since Begin. Israel will not allow regimes that seek our annihilation to acquire nuclear weapons".

This is why we opposed so resolutely the Iran deal, because it gives Iran a clear path to a nuclear arsenal. It allows, over a few years, unlimited enrichment of uranium, the core ingredient required to produce nuclear bombs—and nothing else—and it also does not deal with the ballistic missiles that can deliver this weapon to many, many countries. This is why this deal has to be either fully fixed or fully nixed.

I believe that Begin exemplified for us the commitment to defend Israel’s security at all costs."

Following the Prime Minister's remarks a panel discussion moderated by Wendy Singer, featured US Ambassador David Friedman, former Israeli Ambassador to US from 2005-2009, Sallai Meridor and Indian Ambassador Pavan Kapoor

When asked about the improved relationship of Israel and India, Kapoor stated, "Israel was there when we needed them." Now we believes India can help Israel "scale up." Israel is known as the "drip irrigation country" and with improved agriculture innovation, the two countries can transform lives.

Meridor agreed with Friedman, Israel and US share interests and emotion, with shared narratives and values. However, Meridor is concerned the both countries at present have divided societies. Meridor added, a "world major tsunami is coming. Kids who are starting school today will go into jobs we have never heard of. The demand for ingenuity is just beginning."
