Jerusalem, Israel - Mar. 20, 2018 - The 6th Global Forum for Combating Antisemitism sponsored by the State of Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Diaspora Affairs is meeting in the International Convention Center Jerusalem from March 19-21.

International academics and officials from Australia, Trinidad, South Africa and around the world are participating. Some of the Ambassadors to Israel were also in attendance.

The conference opened on Monday night, with a full program on Tuesday. 

Opening plenary session included Tehilla Shwartz-Altshuler and Noam Katz, and keynote Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked. The justice ministers of Greece, Italy and Malta also addressed the forum. The four ministers then signed a "Joint Statement on Countering Online Hate Speech and Incitement to Violence and Terrorism." 

Antisemitism in Europe with the rise of the Far Right was chaired by Dan Meridor with Professor Shlomo Avineri and Ariel Muzicant representing European Jewry and Natan Sharansky delivering the keynote remarks.

At lunch Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovley gave greetings from the Foreign Ministry. 

Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, Chief Rabbi United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive of Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations based their talks on Pesach and the Hagaddah. Enemies arise is in the present tense, not the past. When a country says they want to kill Israel, believe them," said Hoenlein.

The conference continued after lunch with action panels covering varied topics from sports to progressive activism. Keynote address at the gala dinner in the evening was actress Mayim Bialik, who spoke in "Web Hatred and the Public Person."

The concludes Wednesday afternoon, with a keynote address by the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, who in on an official visit to Israel.
